Salzburg and Munich

Salzburg and Munich

After my wonderful Rendez-vous with Emily I made my way over for a day trip in Salzburg and a couple of days in Munich.

Both… are beautiful cities.

I got to Salzburg early Sunday so it was quite quiet. I can imagine that it is not this quiet on other days, but for me it was perfect. I walked towards the Alt-Stadt that contains most of the older architecture, and it was really just a beautiful stroll in general. Unfortunately I still had my backpack on and I made a small hike to the castle. The hike was beautiful, but do not recommend heavy luggage. The views from the castle were phenomenal.

To be honest, I was mainly there for the castle (though music and Mozart lovers would love the city) and after a couple hours I made my way to Munich.

Munich was not what I had really expected. It held a strong classic feel, in the middle of a robust and modern city. Yet, it is a classic German city famous for its Bavarian cuisine. It truly was an explosion of experiences, and I felt that the city held deep contrasting trends in its center, and that made it quite exciting.

There was a possibility that I could do the exchange program in Munich instead of Goettingen. I am rather glad I choose Goettingen. Munich is incredibly exciting, but there is something about the quietness and calmnness of Goettingen that I have grown to admire. I think Munich would have been too much for me, but nevertheless it was gorgeous.

I enjoyed the cuisine, the people and the views. Definite 10/10 and would do it again.
