Girls Week in Mallorca

Girls Week in Mallorca

After I had spent time in Copenhagen (you can read about that trip here), I made my way to Mallorca, Spain.

Honestly speaking, I had never heard of Mallorca before, but apparently it is the party destination of Germans and Englanders alike… I’m none of those, but I had fun anyway 🙂

I was invited by friends of mine, to meet up with friends of theirs, who were currently in Mallorca. We were a mish-mash group, but I think it went by well.

I arrived on a Wednesday in Palma, and met with Kata, a friend of a friend, who I had not met previously. I had no idea what to expect, but Kata was sweet and let me crash on her couch a few days. We spent much time on the beach, talking and swimming while we waited for the others to arrive. And I have to say the beaches were the most beautiful that I have ever seen. I felt like every different beach we had visited got more and more gorgeous. My Canadian genes were not used to it.

Afterwards came Juli, my bubbly friend from Germany, and us three continued our ungodly tanning and beach bumming. Friday night we were planning on going out and partying, and just before hand our third partner, Lisa, was arriving. Lisa was a riot. Again, I had no idea what to expect, as I had not ever met her previously– but the girl came into the apartment with a big smile on her face. “Hallo, I’m Lisa!” and spread a crazy party energy through the apartment, which was needed as Kata, Juli, and I were exhausted from our day.

The night was young, and then it was long. We ended up walking home at 6 am, and crashing close to 7. We woke up the next day, groggy and hungover and had to make our way to a bus to meet Mara another friend of mine from Germany who was the fourth and final member of our group, in Cala d’ Or, which was an hour and a half away. Even though I was the “fittest” of our hangover group, I could not believe how unbelievably fast the others could walk. I gathered my little energy I had to actually catch the bus, but we made it.

Mara and her family shared their family home on the island with us, and it was BEAUTIFUL. (pictures below). I could not imagine how clear the water was and beautiful the views. We spent time on the beach and exploring the local area. We ate delicious meals in the city and just spent a lot of time laughing and talking. My only complaint, is no complaint at all. It was just at times my German brain was exhausted, and needed a rest, but the others were very forgiving and gracious to me during these times.

I have not taken a trip like this in a long time, especially with friends. A trip that is a bit more luxurious and relaxed. Everything was chill, on a gorgeous beach and my diet consisted of more than bread, peanut butter and carrots. (In fact one night, we cooked up a storm!) The company was great and we enjoyed the luxury of Mallorca as much as 4 students possibly could. It was a beautiful surprise and addition to the adventures I have had in Europe to date.

I have many thanks to give Kata and Mara who hosted me, and Lisa and Juli (and of course Kata and Mara again), for just allowing us to have a great time.

Like always, pictures below.
